Low Income Home Energy Assistance and Weatherization

Energy Assistance

The Low-Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offered through Community Action Agency of Siouxland may be able to help you. This program is funded through the Iowa Department of Human Rights and has been established to help qualified low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs.

Community Action Agency of Siouxland will be taking applications from November 1 through April 30. Eligibility for participation is established according to the federal income guidelines as shown in the table below. Applicants eligible for an award will be paid on a first come, first served basis and all payments are subject to availability funds.

Please bring the following for proof of income:

    Proof of household income for past 13 weeks including:
  • Past 13 weeks of check stubs
  • Current Child Support printout (Child Support

  • Current Title XIX cards
  • Social Security statement or printout (Social Security 255-5525)
  • Unemployment printout (Iowa Workforce 233-9037)
  • Veterans benefits (VA office 279-6606)
  • Federal Income Tax Return for 2015 or 2016
  • Rent receipt-with landlord's name, address, and telephone number
  • Current heat and electric vendor bills
  • Social Security CARDS OF ALL household members
  • Weatherization
